In this session we will focus on advanced cardiac life support. If you want to know how to handle a code be sure to come to this session.
Learning Objectives/Study Questions
1. Recognize the following cardiac arrest rhythms on an ECG: ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, torsades de pointes, pulseless electrical activity, and asystole
2. Provide examples of reversible/treatable causes of cardiac arrest
3. Draw an algorithm for the management of cardiac arrest
4. Select appropriate anti-arrhythmic therapy for the acute management of brady- and tachy-arrythmias
5. Develop a drug therapy plan for the management of a patient in cardiac arrest due to hyperkalemia
6. Describe the management of cardiac arrest due to TdP
7. Compare and contrast the utility of different routes of drug administration during cardiac arrest (peripheral IV, central IV, IO, ET)
8. Recommend an appropriate medication and method of administration for a patient based on their ECG rhythm and clinical scenario (epinephrine, atropine, amiodarone, lidocaine, and magnesium)
